Starting at Old Chevy Chase and running south to North Cleveland Park, on both sides of Wisconsin Avenue are Friendship Heights and Tenleytown. These were trolley towns at the turn of the last century and are now thriving commercial centers, with a variety of stores, specialty shops, movie theaters, restaurants and two Metro stations. The housing is mostly townhouses, but there are also blocks of old fashioned stucco and frame colonials, bungalows and four-square Victorians. The popularity of the area is due to the mix of charming old homes, and great proximity to shops and Metro.
